It is with sadness that we announce cancellation of the 2020 National Environment and Recreation Research (NERR) Symposium scheduled for April 5-7 in Annapolis, MD. The decision not to convene with colleagues and friends to address current issues and activities in our field was a difficult one. Given the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 situation, and out of an abundance of caution for the health and welfare of all, it was clearly the best decision. We want to thank all of you for your efforts in support of the NERR Symposium, whether you rearranged schedules to attend; thoughtfully prepared abstracts; reviewed abstracts and scholarship applications; or engaged in conference logistics. We especially want to thank Dr. Chuck Nelson, Symposium Chair, who dedicated countless time and energies to prepare for an exceptional conference, and the NERRA Council and Committee Members who have guided plans for the upcoming event.
Here are a few pertinent details: Conference Registration – Our existing policy is to refund Conference Registrations as long as they are requested by March 27. For those who used Eventbrite to register, you will need to apply for your refund through the confirmation email you received from Eventbrite when you registered. There is currently an $15.49 service charge for refunds; however, we are in talks with Eventbrite about adjusting this. It may take a few days.
Hotel Reservations – Those of you who were in the NERR room block at The Graduate Annapolis should have received by now a hotel notification that your reservation has been cancelled. If you have not yet received such an email, please contact the hotel directly at 410.263.7777.
Next NERR Symposium – While disappointed that we are not convening this year, we look forward to our next scheduled conference in Annapolis in 2021. Also, in reaching the decision to cancel the 2020 conference, we have agreed with the Graduate Annapolis hotel to extend our agreement an additional year for the 2022 conference. So the NERR conference will remain in Annapolis, MD through 2022 under our current contract. We thank you for your ongoing support of the National Environment and Recreation Research Association and wish you all the best for a healthy 2020. You will be receiving updates regarding the 2020 and 2021 NERR Symposia. We look forward to gathering again soon to engage in the collegial discussion, exceptional educational and research sessions, and convivial social atmosphere that have been hallmark of NERR. We will post further information as we get it on this web page.
With best regards, National Environment and Recreation Research Association
